LEGO Ideas Table Football Set Officially Revealed
After many long months of waiting, the LEGO Ideas Table Football set has finally been revealed. The 16-year-old Hungarian Fan designer Donát Fehérvári constructed the creative set, winning the 2020 LEGO Ideas sports-themed contest. As LEGO promised, the winning submission, announced during LEGO CON 2021, has finally been developed into a LEGO set. This is similar to the LEGO Ideas Fender Stratocaster and many GWPs designed by brilliant fans.
Although the new set has a much smaller scale than the original model, it still has the fun and intense element any regular Foosball Table has. The set consists of 22 minifigure players meaning you have a wide option of players to choose from to complete your 5-a-side team. Fans will be able to purchase the set from the 1st of November. Football Legends Marcus Rashford MBE and Thierry Henry Take on Each Other in Friendly LEGO Ideas Table Football Match
There is no better way to launch the LEGO Ideas Table Football than to have renowned world cup winner Thierry Henry and Manchester United and England champion Marcus Rashford show us how it’s done. The two legendary players face off in a recently released video.
LEGO has brought new meaning to the celebration of play with the new set. As fans construct their LEGO Ideas Table Football set, they can envision a world with chants and cheers rising from every corner of the wide stadium. Using over 60 LEGO elements, fans can create their 5-a-side team consisting of LEGO minifigure players and several fans and teammates watching from the sidelines.
The 22 minifigure players in the set are each unique and racially diverse, with different hair colors and styles, skin tones and facial expressions. This shows how much effort was put into developing this set to make it as realistic as possible. In the real world, football cuts across the bounds of race and connects everyone; this is well captured in the new set.
The game is designed to be played with friends; thanks to the portable size of the set, it can be easily moved to different locations to play “home” and “away” matches with friends. Collectors can also get the set to be displayed on a cabinet.
In describing the LEGO Ideas Table Football set, Thierry Henry said: “Throughout my career, I’ve played football everywhere you can imagine – from my garden to stadiums across the world and now in a LEGO Ideas Table Football set! LEGO play is about harnessing the unifying spirit of sport to rebuild the game for fans everywhere. I am excited to see the new LEGO set bring people together worldwide as they master the table football game in brick form.”
As part of the campaign, the iconic Manchester United and England player Marcus Rashford also said: “I love building with LEGO bricks –but to now build and play football against Thierry Henry in LEGO form is amazing! Football brings fans together, and it is great to see that the LEGO Ideas Table Football set does the same.”
The set, which Donát Fehérvári designed for the LEGO Ideas We Love Sports Contest, was brought to life by LEGO designer Antica Bracanov. In a statement, she said: “What makes the LEGO Ideas Table Football set so amazing is that it harnesses the spirit of sport. Donát’s design champions the shared rollercoaster of emotions fans experience watching football games. At the LEGO Group, we are incredibly proud to have brought this set to life, allowing fans to swap football boots for bricks and be inspired to participate in the game of play for the love of play. ”
LEGO Ideas Table Football shows an ideal appreciation for culture and is the perfect combination of brilliance and fun. This is why the set will launch as part of the For The Joy of Play campaign, which is set to begin on the 29th- 30th of October at 35-37 Rue des Francs-Bourgeois in Paris.
The campaign event, which will run for two days, will feature inspiring talks, the chance to compete in the intense LEGO Table Football competition and even the opportunity to get creative with LEGO bricks at free building areas with a remarkable mural. But, that’s not all; Thierry Henry will also be in attendance. Visit www.lego.com/table-football for more details and tickets.
