Tribute to Galileo Galilei Set Idea Comes on Top as the Next LEGO Ideas GWP

Jun 15, 2022

With a whopping sum of 1,432 votes, the Tribute to Galileo Galilei set by FIRECRACKER_ has just been announced by the LEGO Ideas crew as the winner of the Ready, Set, Go Stem fan vote!

What this means for the triumphant set idea is that the set design will be incorporated into an official LEGO Ideas GWP (gift with purchase) set. Although there isn’t an official release date for the set, we should anticipate its release in about a year from now.

We find it quite amazing that LEGO will include this set that acknowledges one of history’s legends in their LEGO GWP line. We know Galileo Galilei for his great impacts in the scientific world and other fields, especially for his works on astronomy which earned him the “father of astronomy” title. However, he also faced much opposition from the Roman Catholic Church for his belief that the earth resolves around the sun. This is why we find this set a truly inspiring addition.

This model is set to follow other LEGO Ideas GWP such as:

• 40533 Cosmic Cardboard Adventures
• 40487 Sailboat Adventures
• 40448 Vintage Car
• 40335 Space Rocket Ride

LEGO’s next GWP, Ray the Castaway, is also expected to be released in a few months. We should also not fail to mention that the 40567 Forest Hideout GWP is available on LEGO.com from the 15th-22nd of June.

Here are some of the Ready, Set, Go Stem fan vote runner-ups and the number of votes they got:

TRIBUTE TO LEONARDO DA VINCI by LEGOMALKIE - 783 votes

ROTATING CLASSIC SPACE LEGO by DELQUINN – 637 votes

ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES by AIDO_K – 450 votes

THE STEAM TRAIN by LEGO_IS_ART – 411 votes

STEAM ENGINE by MR_KLEINSTEIN – 365 votes
