40502 The Brick Moulding Machine

Okt 06, 2022

Today I write about the second set of the LEGO House exclusive series, the Bricks molding machine, the set 40502.

LEGO House - The Bricks Moulding Machine

This set was launched in early 2021, following the first set of this exclusive line, launched in 2020, the 40501, The Wooden Duck

This model represents one of the many machines used by LEGO to produce the bricks we love so much. From what I was able to ascertain, it is a reproduction of a machine from a German company, named ANGEL, although the brand does not appear on the set.

This set has only one sticker, which represents the machine's control panel. LEGO could have made a printed tile and avoided this sticker. Honestly, in my case, I chose not to paste it, as I do in many sets where I think the use of stickers can be avoided.

Tile with a sample of packaged red bricks

The set has a very good construction, with several interesting techniques. I wasn't counting on having so much fun building this set. It's always nice to be surprised.

The only function of this set is inside, where the movement of the mold of the LEGO elements produced here is simulated (I think it simulates the production of the 2x4 red bricks that can be seen being produced in the LEGO House). For this, there is a button on the back of the set (which is great, as you can't see it from the front, for those who want to expose it). When rotating, it moves half of the mold towards the other, simulating the moment when the molten plastic is injected into the mold.

There are several details achieved by LEGO designers, reproducing this machine well.

After the model was built, a base for this set was created. It is a 16x34 black base, coated with black tiles, 2 of which are printed, where we can find the “LEGO House” tile and another, which is exclusive to this set, saying “The Brick Molding Machine”

Although it is not a very beautiful piece in terms of exhibition, it is a very interesting set and one that I'm sure all LEGO collectors want to have in their collection. The finished set measures 29 cm long by 19 cm high.

Parts and value

This set has 1205 pieces and costs approximately €80 (depends on currency conversion at the time of purchase), which is an excellent value for the number of pieces and the final result.

This is another exclusive LEGO House set, but you can find it in several places for sale (such as Bricklink or eBay) but at much higher prices. So here you can have a good excuse to visit LEGO House or ask a friend to go there, who can bring you one at a normal price.

I have to thank the Brick.is team for sending me this set for review.
